It’s been a while since I’ve talked about Gaga on KARL IS MY UNKLE, but this isn’t a reflection on a lack of support for the ARTPOP era at all. I also don’t feel that she doesn’t need the support (because there a signs far and wide other than Billboard charting stats that prove that she truly does), but the original artistic darkness that the video and artwork for APPLAUSE and the anti-promotional “Lady Gaga is Over” film by The Haus served has dissipated with the album cover and artwork for Do What U Want (which I adore, for reference).
I guess this is what a “Reverse Warholian Expedition” truly is and the blatant artistic inconsistency that she is delivering across the campaign stands for. Regardless, the artwork for what was intended to be the second ARTPOP single (now, third as Do What U Want will be released officially due to unprecedented charting) has arrived. VENUS showcases a sequence of multiple covers shot by ‘Alejandro’ and ‘Fame’ director Steven Klein. It’s dark, it’s very Steven Klein and it’s very me. Enjoy the artwork and heavily Bowie-inspired snippet below and stay tuned for the single premiere on Monday.
