This season was technically my Mercedes-Benz Russian Fashion Week debut, and amidst a series of mediocre and predictable collections, stood out that of post-contemporary Paris-based Georgian designer Ria Keburia.
With a considered ambition to go against the classical and tired grain, Keburia presented a highly wearable noir and gold collection with impactful silhouettes inspired by Japanese origami. The collections rebels against the traditional shape with Keburia’s unique signature “talking” silhouettes, yet maintaining a wearable sensuality.
An additional highlight (and by far the most translatable piece to menswear) from the collection are the elevated black brogues, carrying through the message that ‘The Revival’ is a collection that is above and beyond the norm of the classic.
Keburia is undoubtedly one to watch (this is only her second season) – her aesthetic is extremely unique and contemporary with an early Comme des Garçons-esque feel. Her passion and commitment behind each detail cuts through in every single piece.
