Last night saw the official launch of The Film Project at Selfridges. To celebrate the unveiling of the London Women’s Designer Galleries, a collection of seven bespoke fashion films were presented in a special exhibition (open now until 25 March) in the Old Hotel at Selfridges London.
The fashion films were created in collaboration with Alexander McQueen by Dustin Lynn, Comme des Garçons by Madeleine Malraux, Dries Van Noten by Christopher Doyle, Gareth Pugh by Ruth Hogben (you even get to see him in drag inspired by Liza Minnelli), A.F. Vandervorst by Stef Viane and Rick Owens by Ruth Hogben. Each designer was commissioned to create a short which interprets “the essence of today’s modern woman: sophisticated, intelligent, confident, stylish, strong and feminine”.
The exhibition itself is curated by award-winning set designer Simon Costin and is open for free at the Old Selfridges Hotel from today until 25 March, 12pm to 8pm and Sunday 12pm to 6pm. You can also watch all of the films online at Selfridges.com and five of the films below.
