Rolling Stone: What kind of music do you listen to at home?
Britney Spears: I love the Peas but I also love Deadmau5. I guess I’m all over the place. Lately I have been listening to Robyn and Adele non-stop but I also love to find new artists that very few people know about. It’s one of my favorite things to do because it’s like being part of a secret. Friends and people around me are always showing me new artists that they love and that’s how I learned about Sabi and ended up working with her on “(Drop Dead) Beautiful.” I have always wanted to feature a new artist on one of my albums and she is really cool.
Like a lot of Britney fans, the second that (Drop Dead) Beautiful leaked dropped, I was immediately sold on Femme Fatale as an album. The track has that instant gratification effect from a vacuous pop standpoint, which is what Femme Fatale perfects. The lyric “steam me like a pot full of vegetables” that was so commonly mistaken by shockingly lazy journalists at the time that the album dropped was actually sung and penned by the uber talented Sabi (formerly of The Bangz).
Obviously, being featured on on of the most stanticipated albums of 2011 has done WONDERS for Sabi’s profile, part of her promo included a couple of tweets by Britney and the Rolling Stone shout out above. Check out Sabi’s latest single ‘Goodnight’ from her debut album – the girl has huge potential and you should definitely keep an ear out for her stuff.
