Italian heritage brands are undoubtedly the true remaining icons in the world of high fashion, in any way that you present it. Italy and design and artistry go hand in hand, particularly when it comes down to attention to detail – something that can be lost in modern takes on design and the fast consumption world that we live in. With that said, I wanted to spotlight Canali – one of my favourite outerwear brands offering made to measure, accessories, shoes, clothing and outerwear – something I wanted to showcase particularly with this post.
Since 1934, Canali has been synonymous with quality and excellence in the creation of garments that combine craftsmanship and Made in Italy elegance. Unlike a lot of other brands, for Canali, Made in Italy is not just a label, but “the result of a longstanding tradition that interweaves culture and history, style and taste, a quest for excellence and respect for professionalism, quality and reliability.”
With campaigns that feature composer Ludovico Einaudi and award-winning actor Michael Douglas, there’s no doubt about the prestige and unequivocal character that is embodied by the Canali man. This is why for over 80 years, Canali has represented Made in Italy throughout the world and why its Italian identity remains an essential part of its core values. Tradition and experimentation, innovation and experience – these elements come together in the creation of premium quality collections with a timeless style and exquisitely Italian taste.
Onto the products specifically. I’ve highlighted my top three outerwear pieces from Canali. These include the iconic dark blue water-resistant wool KEI overcoat, the charcoal gray water-resistant wool KEI overcoat and the dark blue 170S wool and cashmere KEI overcoat. Of course, the cashmere comes in at a slightly higher price point but is undoubtedly worth the investment for warmth alone.
I particularly love the detail in the lining of the water resistant piece – as you can see from the photo – ideally for English summer rain – that seems to last for ages!
